I get asked all the time by customers "How hot is too hot on my EGT's?"
If you are towing heavy with your Cummins, most people have no idea how hot these trucks are actually running. They give us a coolant gauge from the factory. The bad thing is, these trucks don't come with a pyrometer. A pyrometer measures Exhaust Gas Temperatures (EGT's) if your exhaust gas temperatures get over 1,600° for an extended period of time the aluminum pistons in these diesel engines begin to melt. Melted pistons can be prevented by installing an aftermarket gauge of some sort to monitor EGT's. Monitoring them isn't enough though, there are a lot of great aftermarket products that help reduce EGT's while towing or playing in your diesel truck.
Compound turbos are an excellent way to reduce EGT's while also increasing performance. In a sense, compounds allow you to have your cake, and eat it too.
This kit will produce roughly 600hp depending on supporting mods and tuning. Fuel system upgrades are highly recommended. Twin CP3's with stock injectors and a Fass fuel system would make for a very reliable setup. You should have no EGT issues with this combination of parts.
