When it comes to tuners for your 2001 to 2002 Dodge Cummins diesel, they are not all created equal.

We don't want to see EGT's get over 1,250° so you can preset the Edge to cut power when the EGT's reach 1,250° it will beep and flash on the screen and if you don't let off the throttle, the Edge will start reducing power until the EGT's or whatever parameter is getting out of hand, comes back down. No other tuner on the market offers the power, and the safety of an Edge Juice with Attitude.
If you end up purchasing an Edge Juice With Attitude from us, we'd love to give you some recommendations to help you avoid future problems with your truck. The EGT's really is an important issue that we can help you avoid. There are a few factory parts that cause this issue. The good news, is aftermarket companies have come in and perfected these faulty parts.
The factory second gen style manifold has two major design flaws. The casting is so crude, that the 1 1/2" opening where the exhaust leaves the cylinder head and enters the exhaust manifold tappers down to about 5/8" in just a couple inches. Funneling that volume off hot air into such a small space so quickly creates a torch effect. This supper heats the manifold causing it to flex and warp. With the factory one piece design it can't flex and it cracks. The three piece design of the aftermarket exhaust manifolds allows the manifold to heat up and cool down in different areas and move freely while doing so. This stops the cracking issue and their open design means the runners are 1 1/2" all the way through resulting in a massive drop in EGT's.
The factory intercooler is another issue when it comes to keeping your cummins engine cool. They use a small 2 inch thick cooling core with a stuffed core tube design. If you cut the intercooler in half it looks like the cooling chambers are stuffed with really course steel wool. Most aftermarket intercoolers are using the same outdated technology they just change to a 3" thick cooling core. They work better than stock, but if you really want a serious upgrade with the absolute best cooling technology, check out the BD Diesel intercooler! They use a much more efficient extruded tube core design, which doesn't slow the air down to cool it.
An aftermarket cold air intake will also help with cooling things down and will have obvious performance gains as well.
